As on 31/12/2022 there were 16759 (90.51% ) under trials, 1637(8.91%) convicts, detenues & others 101 (0.56%) as compare to 16665 (91.09%) under trials, 1569(8.57%) convicts, 61(0.33%) detenues & others respectively. Category wise prison population as on 31/12/2022 is shown in table below :-

The figure includes 738 foreign prisoners majority of whom were from Nigeria(284), Afghanistan(101), Nepal(71), Uganda(56), and Pakistan(26) etc.
