Mandoli Jail Complex is a new Jail Complex under the aegis of Delhi Prisons, in addition to the near Jail Complex and Rohini Jail Complex. It is situated in North East Delhi near U.P border. It has been built on 68 acres of land to accommodate 3776 inmates in six jails

The proposal of Mandoli Jail Complex was initiated in the year 1981 to ease of the overcrowding at Tihar Jail Complex. After allocation of 68 acres of land at Mandoli Village in North East Delhi, the actual work construction was started in the year 2008 with the total cost amounting to Rs 340 Crore. Except few minor works the Mandoli Jail Complex was made ready in first half of 2016, which is consisting of six Central Jails including one Female Jail, and having total capacity of 3776 inmates.

At Mandoli Jail Complex in addition to the six Jails following resources/ infrastructure are also available:-

  • One Administration Block for Mini Head Quarters.
  • Jail Factory in CJ-14 having bakery, LED unit, tailoring unit, carpentry unit etc.
  • One School Complex in CJ-11 having study and examination centre of NIOS and IGNOU.
  • One 52 Bedded Jail Hospital in CJ-13.
  • 330 numbers of Staff Quarters.
  • 580 numbers of Hostel Rooms for staff and security personnel in place of barracks.
  • One Multi Purpose Community centre in Residential Complex.
  • Shopping Complex having 14 numbers of shops for daily needs and services in residential complex.

Salient features of Mandoli Prison Complex:-

  • Separate prison for high security inmates.
  • Inbuilt mechanism for CCTV, Optical Fiber Cable Network.
  • Air circulation system with no electrical fixtures inside the wards
  • Dual water supply system, solar water heating system, R.O system.
  • Sewage treatment plant, Rain water harvesting.
  • Entire Jail Complex, including Residential area is fitted with Solar Plant with capacity of 736 KWP.
  • Solid Waste Management plant in each jail to convert Solid Waste into Organic wasted.
