- Majority of the prison population (around 48%) was in the age group of 21-30 years.
- Prisoners in the age group of 30-50 years constituted 39% of the total prison population.
- Around 0.85% of the prisoners were more than 65 years of age .
The Prison Administration regularly takes up cases of seriously sick and aged prisoners with the concerned trial courts so that, if the court considers it fit, they can be released on bail.
