The prison population as on 31/12/2022 has increased by 1.10% in comparison to the population as on 31/12/2021.   The increase in this year population is because of increase in undertrial population by (0.56%).  A increase of 4.33% in convict population has been observed in comparison to last year population.

In year 2021, occupancy of prisons vis-à-vis sanctioned capacity was 182.47% whereas in the year 2022 an occupancy of 184.49% was observed.
